Bodifying Mousse

Davines calls this a “Volume” mousse, but I find it to be more bodifying (and for that, I love it!). For fine haired girls, this makes strands feel thicker, giving the illusion of having a thicker head of hair. I like to first apply this mousse, starting at the roots & working my way towards the mids, and then follow up with Volu Hair Mist at the roots for a lil extra lift. For my finer haired curly girls, this one is great for giving you lift & hold at the roots also, just apply your leave-in product through the lengths of your curls first (such as Love Curl Cream or Curl Building Serum) to keep curls moisturized. Vegan & Paraben, Gluten, Sulfate & Cruelty Free.

Mousse for Curly Hair

Sometimes when I think of mousse for curly hair, I get this vision of that ‘80s crunchy hair look & cringe. BUT alas, this mousse does not leave you crunchy. I especially like it for finer curly textures that can’t handle creams or gels, and also for wavier hair textures that are looking to really bring out & maximize their inner curl pattern. Try scrunching into your curls after using this Curl Building Serum or This Is An Oil Non Oil, then diffusing with your blowdryer & diffuser for maximum curl potential. Vegan & Paraben, Gluten, Sulfate & Cruelty Free.

Best Dry Texturizer

Miss-labeled (in my opinion) as a Dry Volume Spray, when I think it’s true talent is in texture. I love using Balloon to give texture to hair that is flat or too soft, or when I want to achieve that tousled, lived-in look. When doing iron work, I let curls cool down completely, then I apply Balloon in a similar way to dry shampoo, spraying from the roots to mids, section by section from a few inches away. To be clear, this is NOT a dry shampoo, but it does have some similar attributes. But if soaking up 2nd day hair oil is your true goal, I would 1st apply a true dry shampoo (my fave is this one), then follow up with Balloon for texture. Also Vegan and Paraben, Sulfate (SLS or SLES), Petrolatum, Mineral Oil, Gluten & Cruelty Free.

The Finishing Touch

I consider this product the little cherry on top. A tiny dab rubbed between your fingers and gently applied to ends & mids as the last step in your styling routine will tame flyaways & frizz, and also add texture, all while leaving a sexy, satiny finish. Vegan & Paraben, Gluten, Sulfate & Cruelty Free.

Best Dry Shampoo Ever

There are a million dry shampoos out there, and they all can give you different results. Some are good for nothing more than adding fragrance. NOT this one! Naturia dry shampoo is amazing, it actually soaks up oil & makes your hair look & feel fresh again. It also gives me extra texture & hold, without feeling “product-y.” Full disclosure, the scent is not my favorite (maybe it’s the caraway or basil?) but it’s just kinda meh. Luckily, the fragrance dissipates within minutes & nothing lingers, because I haven’t found another dry shampoo that outperforms this one, while also being talc free. Contains rice, corn starch, clay and silica to successfully absorb oil. Sulfate, paraben, sodium-chloride, silicone & talc free.

Heavy Duty Dry Shampoo Powder

Spraying dry shampoo into the air can be a nuisance at times, so I’m glad that R+Co has given us this non-aerosol powder option. Skyline is NO JOKE. It actually contains Diatomaceous Earth, which is a naturally occurring, food grade sedimentary that is high in silica, which is great for soaking up oil. Doesn’t necessarily give you tons of texture or volume, but it surely delivers in the soaking-up-oil department. You can always follow up with Balloon or Davines Dry Texturizer for extra texture & pizazz after your dry shampoo application. Vegetarian/Vegan, and Paraben, Petrolatum, Mineral Oil, Sulfate (SLS or SLES), Cruelty and Gluten Free

Non-Aerosol Hairspray

A no gas option that fights humidity, has a medium hold factor and is flexible enough that you can brush it right out (or in if you’re spraying prior to using heat tools!) It does an incredible job as a working spray, and won’t leave you crispy or crunchy. I actually like to use this prior to flat ironing hair also, but like any other spray, ALWAYS make sure your product has dried before touching your hair with those hot tools! Even though Vegan & Paraben, Gluten, Sulfate & Cruelty Free.

My Favorite Working Hairspray

Ahhhhh Davines, you’ve created an (almost) perfect hairspray. I refer to this one as a “working” hairspray because I like to use it during the styling process, not just as a finisher. For extra style memory, I will spray before heat styling, without the worry of flakiness after brushing out curls and waves. I can also change my mind and re-style without any heavy buildup. It fights frizz & humidity, and people loooove the fragrance. One tip to remember, Davines’ spray nozzles can be a bit delicate, so be cautious not to drop your can on the floor! Vegan & Paraben, Gluten, Sulfate & Cruelty Free.

Strong Flexible Hairspray (ummm what?)

How is this hairspray flexible AND has a strong hold factor? Let me tell you, Vicious has quickly become one of my go-to finishing hairsprays, I can use it in almost any situation. It’s strong enough to secure my top knots, waves and fringe without feeling heavy or crispy. My hair looks natural, not like I’ve been glazed over like a donut (yuck) and if I accidentally run my fingers through my hair, no problem! It brushes out with ease and doesn’t leave me with tons of tiny product flakes. It is also Vegan, plus Cruelty, Gluten, Paraben, Sulfate (SLS or SLES), Petrolatum & Mineral Oil Free.
